NMB Bank Ltd. is licensed as an “A” class financial institution by Nepal Rastra Bank. It was founded in May 2008 and it is one of the leading commercial banks in Nepal. NMB bank is a highly involved bank regarding the promotion of renewable energy technologies. Taking into account the acute shortage of energy across Nepal, NMB has been actively involved in providing finances and services to companies related to the renewable energy sector such as solar, biogas, micro-hydro powerplants, and improved water mill (IWM) technologies. Thus, the bank represents a very suitable partner for our Climate Trek project.

atmosfair has signed the contract with NMB bank for the distribution of subsidies to the lodge owners. They will use these funds to install renewable energy technlogies on their lodges which are part of the Climate Trek Nepal. With this initiation, Climate Trek Nepal aims to contribute to the eco-friendly tourism of Helambu region of Nepal.Beyond this, NMB Bank plans to offer financial support in the terms of loans for the reconstruction of the lodges. Therefore, the bank has recently met with the participating lodge owners of Climate Trek Nepal to discuss further actions.

Mr. Dinesh Dulal, Head of Renewable Energy and micro-finance at NMB Bank, is the central contact person for atmosfair to implement the contract. Now, with the valuable financial partner aboard, the Climate Trek Nepal has taken its next important step to become a successful pilot project. Further collaborations are waiting ahead.
